High power ultrasound
High power ultrasound is new and novel form of ultrasound which has energy levels (0.001 watt/cm2 to 1000 watt/cm2 or 1000 watts up to or greater than 500,000 watts or amplitude from 10 micron to 150 microns peak to peak displacement) much greater or a magnitude higher than conventional ultrasound technologies such as ultrasonic cleaning baths, ultrasonic diagnostics used in medical applications, ultrasonic none destructive testing (NDT) and ultrasonic sonar (< 0.001watt/cm2, < 1000 watts energy, < 10 micron amplitude).

Ultrasonic processing
Equipment used and the application of high power ultrasound energy to industrial liquid or semi liquid solid flow streams or batch systems.

Sonochemistry
The application of high power ultrasound to chemical, bio-technology or pharmaceutical processing for the purpose of enhancing chemical reaction kinetics, chemical yield, new reaction pathways, breaking and formation of chemical bonds.

Ultrasonic amplitude
Size of the ultrasonic energy wave or peak to peak displacement of th e sine wave or distance between the anti nodal oints.

Ultrasonic intensity
This is the energy density or the amount of watts given out in a defined volume (watts/cm3) or the watts given out from a surface area of 1 cm2.

Ultrasonic food and beverage processing
Application of ultrasound or high power ultrasound to industrial food and beverage processes including the wine and brewery industry.

Ultrasonic chemical processing
Application of ultrasound or high power ultrasound to industrial chemical processing such as cosmetics, paints, plastics, resins, adhesives, pharmaceutical chemicals/drugs, polymers, petroleum oil, chemical powders, surfactants, acids, alkaline chemicals, peroxides.

Ultrasonic mineral and mining processing
Application of ultrasound or high power ultrasound to industrial liquid or liquid solid processes in the mining and mineral industry such as coal, clay minerals, gold, nickel, iron, titanium dioxide, phosphate, pot ash etc.

Ultrasonic water treatment
Application of ultrasound or high power ultrasound to water systems to remove or reduce contaminents such as heavy metals, sulphates, phosphates, micro organisms, BOD/COD.

Ultrasonic waste treatment
Application of high power ultrasound to enhance the biodegradation kinetics in a anerobic or aerobic environment with the aim of reducing sludge solids volume, increase bio gas production and reduce BOD/COD. Also to improve or enhance the separation or clarification of liquids from solids.

High energy cavitation bubbles
High power ultrasonic waves when applied to a liquid medium produce millions of tiny little bubbles (microns in size) which have very high energy levels inside (5000oC temperature and 2000 atmosphere pressure).

Ultrasonic cleaning and disinfection
The use of high power ultrasound for the cleaning and removal of contamination from the surface of industrial processing equipment such as pipes, vessels, heat exchangers, evaporators, filters, membranes or food systems and the removal of micro organisms from industrial processing equipment or food systems.

Ultrasonic enhanced process kinetics
Application of high power ultrasound to a industrial process to enhance production rates or speed up the process.

Ultrasonic enhanced efficiency
Use of high power ultrasound to enhance industrial process efficiency parameters such as flow rate, production, temperature, pressure, production yield, energy cost, production time.

Ultrasonic power
The amount of energy produced in watts which is transmitted from a high power ultrasonic system to a liquid or semi liquid solid flow stream or batch system.

Ultrasonic enhanced mass transfer
The application of high power ultrasound to enhance the movement and penetration of a liquid system to and into a solid system.

Ultrasonic enhanced thermal heat transfer
The application of high power ultrasound to enhance the movement and penetration of heat in a liquid or semi liquid solid and through a solid boundary such as a vessel or packaging material (tin, bottle, can, plastic bag or packaging).

Ultrasonic flow cell
Steel vessel with an inlet and outlet containing a high power ultrasonic sonotrode or horn which is designed to be bolted into a pipe line or industrial process with the aim of treating liquid or semi liquid flow streams with ultrasonic waves.

Ultrasonic reactor
Equipment comprising of a high power ultrasonic generator, transducer and steel flow cell vessel with an inlet and outlet containing a high power ultrasonic sonotrode or horn which is designed to be bolted into a pipe line or industrial process with the aim of treating liquid or semi liquid flow streams with ultrasonic waves.
